PBIC Policy and Requesting Equipment

Equipment Policy

All equipment is loaned on the understanding that the project manager will arrange the retrieval of the equipment in the event of a major earthquake in Southern California that warrants a Rapid Array Mobilization Procedure (RAMP).

Priority is given to:

• Principle investigators of SCEC member institutions.
• Projects in Southern California.
• Short term projects with fixed schedules (over longer term monitoring programs)
• Projects that request fewer resources

Every effort is made to provide projects with all the equipment they need. However, the limited quantity of equipment in the PBIC sometimes forces us to adjust the amount of equipment given to certain projects. Every effort is made to satisfy the needs of as many projects as possible.

The PBIC also provides technical and maintenance support for seismic equipment from other SCEC member institutions.

Requesting Equipment

Equipment requests should be directed to Aaron Martin via email or phone. I am hoping to add in a CGI form of some type in the future.

The user should be able to provide the following information:

• Type and quantity of recorders
• Type and quantity of sensors
• Location of experiment
• Start date and duration of experiment
• Contact information for two people who will be responsible for the equipment (this is for retrieval of equipment for RAMP).
