Educators are welcome to download one of the quicktime movie demos below for offline educational purposes. Choose either the smaller (400Kb), lower quality version or the slightly larger (1.5Mb), medium quality version. Each version is about 20 seconds long.
Please note: The first globe rotation may be a little choppy, as each image needs to be downloaded. Also please note that there are some bugs in the Java implementations of Netscape and Internet Explorer that may interfere with this animation.
The images on this page show the locations of earthquakes of magnitude 5.5 and larger that occurred over a five-year period.
If you do not have a Java-capable browser, you should see six static images in place of the animation.
